End of a Holiday...

Seth and I planned on going to Akumal for a date day about 2 weeks ago. I was all pepped and excited to hang on the beach and chill on a weekday since its much calmer than weekends. So on the morning of when I found out it was a public holiday celebrating Constitution Day, I was thinking about how packed the beach was going to be and debating whether we should change to another day. Well, I'm glad I didn't because we ended up having a great time, and the beach wasn't busy at all. It seems it was tourists day at Akumal and there were very few locals there at all. It seems all the Mexicans were celebrating the day off
at beach by the ferry dock in Playa del Carmen.

After we got back from our little rendezvous, we decided to take Taelyn on a bike ride down to the beach off of 5th. Its sooooo much easier to take her out for a short excursion in the evening because its cooler and it helps the last few hours before bed time fly by. Doesn't hurt that it wears her out, and then she goes to sleep like a champ!
As usual, the beach was still busy even though it was sunset. I just love how everyone uses the beaches in Mexico for a day with family and friends. There were guys playing soccer, a group playing some sand volleyball, and others just hanging around and chilling.

Taelyn had a blast. We played in the waves a little bit and fiddled with the sand. Of course, I didn't think to bring a change of clothes or possibly, I don't know...take her clothes off before we jumped in the water. Needless to say, she walked around with just a diaper by the end.

A new addition to 5th Street was this statue of a mermaid and merman. I think its nice. However, I didn't not like that they tore out one of our few parks in order to build it. Hence, the big area of empty sand. Not happy. Not happy at all!

All things typical of the end of a day in Playa. The last ferry going to Cozumel. The cruise ship leaving Cozumel across the water after a long day of sightseeing for tourists only there for a few hours. The Mayan Pole Flyers doing their thing for a few pesos. The fruit ladies selling the last of the wares before going home to cook dinner for their families. The tourists sitting around the square with the beautiful white church in the background. I wonder if they even notice it.

It was a good ending to a holiday.
